Wrestling is life for Mexico's Trevor Cole and he will put his skills on display overseas this summer.
Cole has been invited to attend the World Wrestling Tours sometime between the end of July and the first week in August. Cole says he is looking forward to the trip.
"I am excited. It will be my first time visiting another country and my first time flying. I'm a little nervous."
His wrestling career reads like the lyrics to the Johnny Cash song, "I've Been Everywhere."
He has competed in Ohio, Oklahoma, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Wisconsin, and Alabama. Cole's accolades include two-time Freestyle State Champion, AAU State Champion, Triple Crown recipient, and Adidas Nationals Champion.
Cole says he will start freestyle training with Eierman Elite over the next several months. "I want to wrestle in the Olympics one day. This trip will be a great experience and help me realize the goal of becoming an Olympic Freestyle Wrestler."
Cole will be training with Michael Eierman, who was the youth wrestling coach for Mizzou's two-time World Champion J'den Cox. Along with Hungary there will be one or two surprise countries the wrestlers will visit, however they will not know those destinations until they get on the bus the day they go to those places.
The trip will not be cheap and anyone wanting to make a donation can do so by reaching out to Holly Cole at 573-721-3415. Trevor is the son of Darryl and Holly Cole of Mexico, and the grandson of Ralph McDaniel of Mexico.
