Posted

Hunter Bickell made a jump in competition when he transferred to Mexico and will do so again when he runs in college.

Bickell signed on Wednesday to run cross country and track and field for William Woods University in Mexico. He has run two years for Class 4 Mexico after being with Class 1 Wellsville-Middletown his first two years. Over that time, Bickell has qualified for state cross country four times, has been cross country all-conference three times (twice for Mexico and once for Wellsville), he has qualified for state track in the 1600 meters and 4x400 and 4x800 relays for Wellsville, and was part of Wellsville's third-place cross country team as a freshman and district championship track and field team as a sophomore. Bickell plans to major in biology to go on the pre-medicine track. He is the fourth Mexico runner this season to sign for college and the third to go to William Woods along with Tyler Grimes and Landon Higgins.
