Mexico girls soccer will have two all-conference players returning but will miss its senior goalkeeper.
Emily Moppin and Kenley Jones were named to the North Central Missouri Conference team as sophomores, with Moppin being a second team midfielder and Jones being a second team defender. Haefling was honored as part of the Class 2 District 3 team, leaving a legacy between the posts that can be seen in the MSHSAA record books.
Moppin finished with five goals and two assists this season while Jones’ second straight all-conference selection was earned after helping the Lady Bulldogs hold teams to 3.7 goals per game, which was a three-season low for the program.
Haefling joined Jones as a defender partially this year due to injuries to her and others but patrolled the net for a majority of the time. She made 150 saves, averaging nine per game in 16 games spent between the posts.
For her career, Haefling’s name appears in the MSHSAA girls soccer record book five times, including second all-time in average career saves per game at 12.97, third in career saves with 765, fourth for saves in a single game at 35 two years ago against Capital City, seventh for saves in a single season at 322 for her junior year, and 11th in average saves per game in a single season at 13.42 during her junior season.
