Missouri Military Academy broke in a younger roster this season.
The Colonels were able to match a school record nine wins and finished with a 500 record of 9-9. A big reason why was their all-district players as Hunter Manderson was named to the first team, Luke Wolf was part of the second team and Ethan Hersh was an honorable mention. Hersh graduated, but Manderson and Wolf along with several other Colonels should come back next year.
Manderson was one of MMA’s better pitchers and was a serious threat as the cleanup hitter before he was injured and had to sit out districts. He finished with a team-high .545 average, .672 on-base percentage, .591 slugging percentage, 24 hits, 17 runs and 15 RBI.
Wolf came through in many clutch situations for MMA as he owned a team-high 28 hits and 23 RBI while scoring 11 runs, hitting .448, finishing with a .467 on-base and .517 slugging.
Hersh led the pitching staff as the catcher and took a couple turns on the mound as well, including his district start against North Callaway of four runs on seven hits and five strikeouts in six innings, resulting in a 4-0 loss. During the season, Hersh had 20 hits, 18 runs, a team-high 13 stolen bases, a .365 average, a .441 on-base and a .462 slugging.
A couple of young Colonels that missed postseason recognition but finished with solid seasons were Michael Moss and Avin Hernandez. Moss finished with a .364 average, .525 on-base, 17 hits, 16 runs and seven RBI, and Hernandez had a .359 average, .545 on-base, 14 hits, 11 runs, 10 RBI and five stolen bases.
