A small storm caused some damage in Mexico Monday morning, triggering the closure for an indefinite period of NuTone Coin Laundry, located at 410 W. Monroe St., whose building sustained roof damage.
Signs, street lights, some vehicles and buildings were damaged during the event, and there were no injuries from the event, according to a Mexico Public Safety Department news release.
Just after 9 a.m., a small storm moved through Mexico, bringing a few minutes of very heavy wind and rain, the release said, and MPSD personnel responded to 19 incidents of the roadway being obstructed by tree limbs, utility lines or debris.
“All the utility lines which were down appeared to belong to Charter and there were no significant power outages,” the release stated.
Material from a construction site in the area of Coal Street and Promenade Street was blown from the area and part of the roof from a building in the 400 block of West Monroe blew into the roadway, the release stated. MPSD and the city of Mexico street department worked quickly to get all roadways opened again, the release said.
