The Mexico Public Safety Department extinguished a fire near Fairground Road on Saturday afternoon.
There were no injuries reported and the fire was extinguished before any personal property was damaged, but approximately one acre of land was burned, according to a news release issued by MPSD.
At approximately 12:25 p.m., MPSD responded to a natural cover fire in the 2300 block of Fairground Road, according to the release. Responding officers extinguished the flame that was moving quickly through the tall, dry grass.
Police say residents reported hearing someone shooting fireworks in the area prior to noticing the fire.
