There were no injuries from either incident.
On May 9, at 9:45 a.m., the Mexico Public Safety Department responded to the 800 block of East Breckenridge in reference to a fire inside a dumpster, according to a MPSD news release. The fire was quickly extinguished and only the dumpster was damaged, with the release explaining it appeared the fire was caused by disposal of hot cooking material.
On May 10, just before 12:55 p.m., MPSD responded to the 2000 block of Summer Ridge Road regarding a fire. Responding personnel found that the mulch in a flower bed had burned, damaging some personal property and the house itself. MPSD personnel extinguished the fire, and it appeared the fire was caused by disposal of smoking material in the flower bed.
