On Thursday, Dec. 12, at approximately 3:27 a.m., the Mexico Public Safety Department became aware of a vehicle driving into a building in the 200 block of E. Liberty then driving away. At about the same time a black, 2011 Ford Escape, driven by Leon McKinnon, Jr., age 52, of Mexico, arrived at MPSD and collided with two parked patrol cars. It was determined McKinnon was also the person who struck the building and he appeared to be having an issue involving his mental health. The building and all involved vehicles were damaged. McKinnon had minor injuries and no one else was hurt. McKinnon was transported to the University of Missouri by Audrain Ambulance District while being accompanied by MPSD. His vehicle was towed from the scene.
