A fire Wednesday caused minor damage to a building, according to a news release from the Mexico Public Safety Department.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was determined to be a furnace flue that was not high enough and was placed too close to a section of the roof.
At approximately 2:41 p.m., MPSD responded to the 1000 block of West Liberty in reference to a building on fire. Responding personnel found a small section of the building’s soffit, fascia and ceiling trusses burning.
The fire was quickly extinguished, and the building only suffered minor damage.
