A medical call turned into a fire response Saturday afternoon.
There were no injuries or personal property damage as a result of the fire, and the woman experiencing the medical emergency was treated and subsequently released from the hospital, according to a news release issued by the Mexico Public Safety Department.
At approximately 12:43 p.m., MPSD responded to a property in the 3900 block of East Liberty Street to assist the Audrain Ambulance District with a medical call. While responding, a natural cover fire at the property was reported to be spreading and nearing some vehicles. Responding officers located and controlled the fire, which had spread and burned about a quarter-acre.
According to the release, the owner of the property was burning yard waste when she experienced a medical emergency that was unrelated to the fire. The fire began to spread as she attempted to get help.
MPSD extinguished the fire before any personal property damage could occur. Audrain Ambulance District transported the woman to Boone Hospital Center, where she was treated and later released.
A grass fire in Mexico was extinguished Sunday afternoon.
There were no injuries from the incident, and no personal property was damaged, according to a news release issued by the Mexico Public Safety Department.
At approximately 1:45 p.m., MPSD responded to the 1600 block of Sherwood Street in reference to a grass fire. Upon arrival, responding officers found the residents of the home extinguishing a fire along the fence line between their property and a neighboring home.
According to the release, the residents reported having a fire in a fire pit the night before and thought the fire was extinguished. The residents told officers that they returned to the home Sunday afternoon to see the fire had rekindled and spread outside the fire pit.
MPSD assisted in the complete extinguishment of the fire.
