On Sunday, Dec. 8 at 12:06 a.m. a 31-year-old man from Justin, TX. was walking in the driving lane of Highway 54 when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver of the 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee, a 27-year-old Vandalia man, was traveling westbound about .1 mile east of Audrain Rd. 964 when he collided with the pedestrian. The pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene by EMS at 12:20 a.m.
The vehicle was totaled and the pedestrian was transported to Arnold Funeral Home. Next of kin has been notified.
