MPSD responds to alleged vehicle fire

Posted

On Thursday, Feb. 6, at approximately 8:39 a.m., the Mexico Public Safety Department responded to a report of a vehicle fire in the parking lot of the West Plaza Shopping Center. Responding personnel found Leslie G Rosenthal, age 58, of Mexico, near his red, 1996 Ford Thunderbird. There was light smoke in the area, but no fire. Investigation indicated that Rosenthal had been intentionally spinning his vehicle’s tires, leaving black marks on the parking lot. Rosenthal was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (Aggravated Offender). He was processed at MPSD and eventually taken to the Audrain County Jail. There were no injuries from the incident.

Residents are reminded that people arrested/charged with a crime are simply accused of the crime and are to be considered innocent until proven guilty.
