North Callaway wins crucial third set, defeats Centralia in four for redemption

North Callaway paid Centralia back for an earlier loss this season.

In the first meeting of the season between North Callaway and Centralia, North Callaway lost in four sets on its home court but won in four sets (25-11, 11-25, 25-23, 25-19) in Centralia on Monday. Just like a week ago, the teams split the first two sets, but the Ladybirds used six service aces to gain the advantage to take the third set.

Jaden Smithee had three of her four service aces in that set for North Callaway (6-7-2), five kills each came from Rylee Horstman, Alex Craighead, Avis Endres and Bailey Hill, and Lakyn Hartley finished with eight digs. For Centralia (3-10), Caris Finlay had 28 assists, Ryenn Gordon finished with 15 kills, Madilynn Hunter followed with nine kills, and Addison Mabrey picked up six blocks.

North Callaway hosts Russellville (6-5) at 6 p.m. Sept. 30, looking to redeem a four-set loss earlier this season, while Centralia plays at Bowling Green (5-8-1) 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
