Centralia baseball earned a victory on Thursday following a tough loss.
The Panthers lost 7-6 in eight innings on Monday at Hallsville (7-21), who they will see in the Class 4 District 8 tournament at 6 p.m. Monday, but won their regular season finale 7-6 at home against Montgomery County (12-8). Centralia, who finished with 14 hits, came from behind to take a 5-3 lead and then held off the Wildcats after the game was tied at 5 in the sixth inning.
Micah Danielson finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored, including the winning run in the sixth inning on a passed ball. Anthony Ford had a RBI single earlier in that inning and was 3-for-4 with two RBI. Henry Bohlmeyer scored on that hit from Ford and also scored Centralia's first run on a steal of home (one of two by the Panthers along with Danielson's), finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Luke Waltemate and Chase Kempker each had a RBI.
Centralia used four pitchers and Montgomery ran out five pitchers as both teams prepared for districts. Tuckyr Pollock pitched two shutout innings for Centralia, allowing only one hit.
