State No. 8 Paris had the makings for another comeback to extended its seven-run winning streak, but it didn't pan out.

The Lady Coyotes lost their program's first ever state Final Four game 4-3 on Friday to No. 5 Gallatin at the Killian Softball Complex in Springfield. Senior Alyssa Webb brought in two RBI with a ground ball down the first-base line to give Paris (23-7) a few at-bats with the winning run at the plate. Before that, Gallatin scored three unearned runs off senior Kennedy Ashenfelter, who was 2-for-3 at the plate, and the Lady Coyotes. Ashenfelter struck out six and allowed three hits in six innings. Brynn Bird struck out eight and allowed three unearned runs on four hits for Gallatin (24-8), who returned to state after finishing fourth last season.

Paris plays Stanberry (12-15) at 3 p.m. today for third place.
