Coyotes outmatched 62-23 by state-ranked Salisbury
Salisbury showed why they are ranked ninth in Class 2 Tuesday at Paris.
The Coyotes lost 62-23 in the Lewis and Clark Conference matchup, allowing 26 points off 25 turnovers and 24 points in transition, for their first conference defeat.
Salisbury (10-2, 2-0 L&C) had an 18-3 lead after the first quarter and then 40-7 lead after halftime before almost being matched in the third quarter by Paris 15-13.
Evan Smothers led Paris (6-7, 2-1 L&C) with 11 points, and Alex Williams followed with four points. For Salisbury, Cooper Francis had a game-high 19 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Paris goes to Madison (1-8) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Lady Coyotes lose ninth straight, drops one to Salisbury
The scoring issues continued Tuesday night at home for the Paris girls.
The Lady Coyotes lost 43-13 to Lewis and Clark Conference foe Salisbury, turning the ball over 34 times and shooting 21.4 percent from the field, for their ninth straight loss.
Salisbury (6-6, 2-0 L&C) wasn’t able to pull away right away, leading 11-3 after the first quarter and 20-11 at halftime but scored 23 points in the third quarter. Paris (3-11, 0-3 L&C) finished with nine deflections and nine steals and outrebounded Salisbury on the defensive glass 22-12 and overall 32-24.
Sophia Crusha led Paris with five points, Kennedy Ashenfelter followed with four points and two steals, Emma Ashenfelter had five rebounds and four steals, and Rachel Shoemyer led the team with seven rebounds.
Tori Ricketts led Salisbury with 20 points, three steals and two 3-pointers, and Jo Brown followed with eight points and seven rebounds.
Paris plays at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Madison (1-10).
