Coyotes struggle from field in 38-33 loss
The Paris boys did several good things on Friday morning.
The problem was the Coyotes shot 23.3 percent from the field to lose 38-33 to La Plata in the Moberly Area Community College Shootout. Paris picked up 15 points off 19 La Plata turnovers and put back nine second-chance points thanks to 15 offensive rebounds to contribute to a 23-22 halftime lead.
La Plata (4-6) shot 43 percent from the field and had three with at least seven points.
On the other hand, Paris (2-8) was lifted by Colton Kendrick’s 21 points, 13 rebounds and two steals. The next highest scorers for the Coyotes — Andre Miller and Cayden Poddany — each had four points. Poddany finished with nine rebounds, including seven on the offensive glass.
Paris opened its Salisbury Invitational Tournament today against Cairo (4-6) before playing at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the event of a loss or Thursday in the event of a victory.
Lady Coyotes outrebounded in 43-34 loss
The Paris girls were unable to hit the boards harder on Friday morning.
The Lady Coyotes were outrebounded 35-25 and couldn’t put a dent into La Plata’s 24-16 halftime lead to lose 43-34 at the Moberly Area Community College Shootout on Friday morning.
La Plata (9-1) had three girls finish with seven rebounds while Reese Sutton led Paris (3-8) with seven rebounds to go with a game-high 16 points. Emma Ashenfelter followed Sutton with eight points and four steals, and Melanie Moore had five points.
Paris started its run in the Salisbury Invitational Tournament today against Class No. 7 Cairo (9-1) before playing at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the event of a loss or Thursday in the event of a victory.
