Wednesday was not the first time this season Paris and Community R-6 met, and it might not be the last.
In a rematch between district foes in Laddonia, Paris defeated Community 6-3 after losing 6-5 on the Lady Trojans' field earlier this season. The Lady Coyotes (9-3) scored three crucial runs in the fourth inning to take a 5-3 lead on a hard groundball by Emma Ashenfelter triggered some of four errors by Community (9-4) in the inning. Myla Carroll was credited for the Lady Trojans' only runs on a three-RBI home run in the second inning for her first career varsity home run. Paris scored those aforementioned three unearned runs, two on passed balls and on a RBI single by Reese Sutton, who went 2-for-4 and pitched seven innings with eight hits, seven strikeouts and two earned runs.
Paris plays at Glasgow (6-2) at 5 p.m. Monday while Community (3-1 CAC) plays at Central Activities Conference foe Sturgeon (0-7, 0-2 CAC) at 5 p.m. Friday.
