Few details have emerged involving the sale of two mid-Missouri hospitals that have been shuttered for nearly nine months.
According to a text message sent out to former employees of the Callaway Community Hospital by former hospital CEO Jeff Stone on Wednesday, Dec. 14, "I received a notice from Platinum that all Noble corporations and subsidiaries were sold on Dec 7. The new owner is to assume responsibility for all outstanding payroll, vendor liabilities, and legal issues. The communicated intent from Platinum is for a change of ownership to be submitted to DHSS (Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services) and both hospitals to eventually reopen."
The text message goes on to say "The sale was NOT made to Owen Shuler. I am waiting on details of the new owner."
Sources close to negotiations of the sale have told the Mexico Ledger the new broker is Clifford Sullivan who is reportedly from the West Coast. And the anticipation is that he will ask DHSS for a an extension on operating licenses for the hospitals and then sell the hospitals again to another group. This has not been confirmed by The Mexico Ledger as we reached out Clifford Sullivan through an email and waiting on a response.
Currently the hospitals in Mexico and Fulton have a Dec. 20, 2022 deadline to have the temporary voluntary suspension of operating licenses reinstated by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.
Since a new owner has purchased the hospitals that deadline could be extended for up to another 180 days.
This is a breaking news story and more details are expected to be available by the first of next week.
