Three people were detained after they allegedly burglarized vehicles and stole a vehicle in Mexico, a Mexico Public Safety Department release stated.
Two adults and one juvenile were detained, and the suspects were all from the St. Louis area, the release stated.
On May 16, at adjust after 5:15 a.m., MPSD officials became aware that “five people had been in the southwest part of town getting into vehicles and stealing property” around 1 a.m., the release stated. The group also stole an SUV, the release stated.
“They apparently abandoned the SUV near Auxvasse and were attempting to meet another group of people who had committed similar crimes in other jurisdictions including stealing a vehicle,” the release stated. “Deputies from the Callaway County Sheriff’s Department attempted to stop that stolen vehicle and a pursuit occurred, which went into Montgomery County before the vehicle was stopped.”
The three people were then detained. MPSD continues its investigation with the other agencies and will forward cases to the Audrain County Prosecuting Attorney against the individuals who are alleged to have committed crimes in Mexico.
