Raymond Joseph Pursifull, 77, of Mexico, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2025, at his home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 5, at St. Brendan Catholic Church with Fr. Dave Veit officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Martinsburg.

A Visitation is from 9-10:45 a.m. on Thursday at Arnold Funeral Home.

Raymond was born on January 17, 1948, in Martinsburg, the son of Clarence William and Julia Barat (Sampson) Pursifull. On July 19, 1969, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Martinsburg, he married Bonnie Lou Dungan.

Mr. Pursifull was a 1966 graduate of Community R-6 High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served in Vietnam. Following his military service, Raymond worked at the Martinsburg Elevator until becoming a lineman for Consolidated Electric, retiring in 2016.

Raymond was a member of St. Brendan Catholic Church and was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

Raymond was an amazing father and devoted husband. He was so proud of all his kids and supported them in everything they did. He loved to fly remote-controlled planes. Only once did he have to post a reward for a lost one. We often loaded up the car and went for a drive or mushroom hunting. He was a champion of being “the tickle monster.” There were many trips to St.Louis to watch planes at the airport. Of course, eating at White Castle was a must. He had fond memories of growing up in Martinsburg with his large family and some wonderful stories he loved to tell. He and Connor would watch the railroad tracks for hours in hopes of seeing a train. We were so blessed to be able to call him our dad and Papa. His love for us will always be felt but his loss is immeasurable.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Pursifull of the home; four children, Angela Pursifull of Mexico, Amy (David) Goodman of Holts Summit, Adam (Tracy) Pursifull of St. Louis, and Andrew (Kirsten) Pursifull of Eureka; six grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Dustin) Brooks Riecke of Millersburg, Connor, Carly and Caden Goodman, all of Holts Summit, Lelaina and Celia Pursifull of St. Louis; two great-grandchildren, Raelynn and Weston Riecke; and three siblings, James Pursifull of Columbia, Maureen Ehret of Martinsburg, and George Pursifull of Hazelwood.

Raymond was preceded in death by three sisters, Julia Jane Pursifull, Rosemary Byland, and Theresa Appling; five brothers, Bill, John, Paul, Tom, and Joe Pursifull; and a son-in-law, Del Lynn Brooks.

Memorial donations may be made to Re-Made for a Purpose in Fulton or to St. Brendan School. Both may be sent in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson Street, Mexico, MO 65265.
