The four local winners from the Miss Audrain and Miss Brick City competitions who will be competing in next week’s Miss Missouri got one last meet and greet last Saturday, June 3 at a send-off party at Fairy Tale Events.
The four include Miss Audrain Melissa Gomes, Miss Brick City Landry Jenkins, Miss Audrain Teen Bridget Caldwell, and Miss Brick City Teen Alyson Meyer.
Gomes lives in the St. Louis area, is competing for Miss Missouri for the second year, and is a recent graduate of Lindenwood University. Her talent competition will be to sing the song “Colors of the Wind.” Gomes’ social impact cause she advocates for is 100 Percent Human. Miss Audrain County Scholarship Organization Director Amy LeCount told the Ledger that Gomes’ cause focuses on people overcoming disabilities. LeCount said Gomes has attended several events in Mexico including being the grand marshal at the Christmas parade.
Jenkins is from Rogersville which is near Springfield and recently graduated high school. Jenkins is currently attending the College of the Ozarks studying nursing. During the talent competition, Jenkins will sing Mariah Carey’s “I’ll Be There” and for her social impact cause, Jenkins wants to bring more awareness to Alzheimer’s disease. Jenkins works at a nursing home and this will be her first time at Miss Missouri.
Caldwell is from Florissant and is competing at Miss Missouri for the second year. Her talent competition will be to perform a tap dance to “I Feel Good.” Caldwell’s social impact cause is Bridging the Gap Between Youths and Heroes. LeCount said Caldwell’s cause focuses on connecting teens with Veterans to share their stories.
Meyer is the one competitor who lives in Audrain County. Meyer is a senior at Mexico High School and she will perform a jazz dance to the 80s rock hit “Loving Every Minute of It.” Meyer works with the local health department and other organizations to connect families with food. Meyer participated in last week’s Anchor Fest parade in Centralia.
