Children waited anxiously behind the ropes, Easter baskets in hand, looking out into the field covered in colorful eggs.
Hickory Ridge Orchard started a new tradition Saturday with their first Easter egg hunt, and to call it a success would be an understatement.
“We were just trying to feel it out and see how it goes,” said Brandt Schisler, owner of Hickory Ridge Orchard. “Obviously, it was a wonderful turnout.”
The Easter egg hunts were divided into three age groups with varying difficulty. Between them all, a total 2,000 Easter eggs filled with candy and stickers were hidden by Hickory Ridge staff.
Before 11 a.m., the parking lot was full. Families not wanting to miss out on the spring-time fun began parking in the driveway and on the gravel road, making the hike up to the orchard.
“Next year, we will be better prepared and ready to rock and roll with even more,” Schisler said.
There was no shortage of things to do between the Easter egg hunts, with free photos with the Easter Bunny by KWinterbower Photography LLC, tasty bites at Trynette’s food truck, yard games, the iconic Hickory Ridge jump pillow and a petting zoo all while being open for business as usual.
