STATE CLASS 1 DAY ONE: Centralia ends Day 1 in first

The start couldn't have been much better for the Centralia boys.

On the first day of the MSHSAA Class 1 Wrestling Championships on Wednesday at Mizzou Arena in Columbia, the state No. 1 Panthers finished Day 1 on top of the team standings with 95 points -- ahead of St. Pius X (Festus) and its 54.5 points. Eight boys secured medals by advancing to tomorrow's semifinals, including Bryson Dubes at 106 pounds, Waylon Adkisson at 113, Charlie Robinson at 132, Louis Suddarth at 157, Rex Bryson at 165, Wyattv Adkisson at 175, Ian Tuggle at 215 and Marshall Kable at 285. Blake Bodine at 126 and Mason Adkisson at 190 each advanced to third-round wrestlebacks tomorrow for a chance to earn a medal. 

North Callaway had all four wrestlers advance to tomorrow, including semifinalists Collin Moore at 157 pounds and Gunnar Wenneker at 285. Ben Haubner at 175 and Casper Safranski at 190 each will begin tomorrow in the third-round wrestlebacks. 

Ryan Miles topped out his Missouri Military Academy wrestling career with 104 wins after earning his first career state victory. The senior pinned Priory's G.E. Farmakis in 37 seconds after being pinned in 39 seconds in the first round. Miles was then pinned in 40 seconds to be eliminated.
