There are four Bulldogs left standings after one day.
Four Mexico boys advanced to Day 2 tomorrow after making it through Wednesday of the MSHSAA Class 2 boys state championships at Mizzou Arena in Columbia. Carlos Juarez Ramirez at 106 pounds and Grant Van Horn at 175 each won two matches to advance to the semifinals and secure medals. Logan Hilderman at 120 and Kyler Carr at 150 made it through second-round wrestlebacks to earn a chance at picking up a medal tomorrow. Van Horn won by technical fall and pin while Juarez Ramirez won by pinfall and then a 4-1 decision against Mid-Buchanan's Colby Schreck, who handed Juarez Ramirez his only loss of the season. In second-round wrestlebacks, Hilderman breat Father Tolton's Charlie Ruether by a 6-0 decision and Carr pinned Blair Oaks' Kaiden Caudle.
Watson Azdell at 132 wrestled his final match of his career with a 6-1 loss after pinning Excelsior Springs' Carson VanDoremalen. Evan Blair at 113, Grant Walker at 215 and Travis Shramek at 285 each lost two matches.
