Audrain County Health Department Administrator/CEO Craig Brace announced the promotion of Special Projects Manager/Communicable Disease Coordinator Katie Swaim, RN, BSN, CPN to the position of director of operations at ACHD.
“I’m pleased to promote Katie to director of operations,” Brace said. “Her depth of public health experience and proven track record to provide leadership to advance the ACHD mission forward is an asset to our team and the communities we serve.”
As director of operations, Swaim will provide strategic and operational leadership for the ACHD. This will entail ensuring ACHD’s programs, services, and internal systems effectively advance the department’s mission to prevent disease and illness, promote health and wellness, and protect residents from harm.
This role will oversee the day-to-day operations, drive organizational excellence, and will help ensure ACHD is prepared to respond to the ongoing public health needs for Audrain County residents.
“I’m excited for this opportunity,” Swaim said. “I’m honored to step into the role of director of operations and continue serving the residents of Audrain County. Public health is truly a team effort, and I look forward to working alongside our dedicated staff and community partners to strengthen our programs and ensure we are meeting the evolving needs of our community.”
Swaim started at the health department as a home health and hospice nurse in 2012 and moved into a public health role when the department discontinued the home health and hospice program in 2014. Swaim has been ACHD’s communicable disease coordinator and was promoted to special projects manager in September of 2024.
