Thunderbirds going to quarterfinals after 2-1 win over Clark County

The North Callaway Thunderbirds celebrate on Tuesday on their home field after junior Keaton Bell pitched a 1-2-3 seventh inning to secure a 2-1 victory over Clark County in a Class 3 state sectional game in Auxvasse. North Callaway plays at Duchesne at 2 p.m. Thursday.

Keaton Bell and the Thunderbirds beat the rain on Tuesday.

In North Callaway's 2-1 Class 2 sectional victory over Clark County (17-7) at home in Auxvasse, Bell threw 75 pitches as he allowed one earned run on four hits and no walks while striking seven in seven innings. The junior also scored the winning run on a RBI fielder's choice by Kyle Pennell.

Bell hit a batter in the fifth inning that came around to score.

Carter Moore's RBI hit to shallow center field scored the game's first run in the fourth inning. The Thunderbirds (18-9) finished with four hits and no errors in the field.

North Callaway plays at Duchesne (22-10), who beat Hermann (12-21) 6-2 in sectionals on Tuesday.
