The Allen P. and Josephine B. Green Foundation Scholarship selection committee announced the 2025 recipients of the technical scholarships to Mexico High School students.
Three outstanding members of the senior class — Cooper Rowe, Eric Heaton and Tyson Carr — have been granted technical scholarships to support their advancement in the workforce.
Cooper Rowe, son of Brian and Kristin Rowe, has been selected to receive a $1,000 scholarship. He will use the scholarship to pursue training in heavy equipment operation at the State Technical School.
Eric Heaton, son of Jeremy and Kimberly Heaton, and Tyson Carr, son of Taylor and Ryan Colley, have both been awarded $4,500 to support their acceptance to the Iron Eagle Welding Academy. Both students plan to complete the Master Pipe Welding and Fitting Course.
Mr. and Mrs. Allen P. Green established the Allen P. and Josephine B. Green Foundation in 1941. Mr. Green moved to Mexico in 1910 and purchased the firebrick company that retained his name until it was sold in 1997. Recognizing the contribution of the A. P. Green Fire Brick Company to the community, and the contributions of the people of the community to the success of the company, the Green Foundation established this scholarship.
Laura Erdel, chair of the Green Foundation Technical Scholarship Committee, said, “All three of these candidates have been working throughout their high school career tutoring and mentoring other students and playing sports. Each has held leadership positions and is respected among their teachers and peers. We are extremely proud to name these students as the 2025 Green Foundation Technical Scholarship recipients, and we believe they will be ambassadors who will make the Mexico Community proud."
