North Callaway made it out of its pool to play for third place. It will play at 10 a.m. this morning at Southern Boone against Class 4 No. 7 Southern Boone (21-8), who lost 1-0 to Fatima in eight innings on Friday.
The Class 3 No. 7 Thunderbirds faced two state-ranked Class 4 teams on Friday in the Southern Boone Classic tournament in Mexico and lost 5-2 to No. 2 Moberly (24-6) and beat No. 5 Fulton 1-0. Tucker Sheets had four of his six walks in six complete innings in a four-run first inning for Moberly. Carter Moore hit a two-RBI home run after having the lone North Callaway RBI in a 2-1 loss the previous day against Mexico.
North Callaway (17-4) only needed to score one run in the sixth inning against Fulton (17-6) when Coltyn O'Neal slid in ahead of the throw on a force play after Caleb Sheets hit a ground ball. Keaton Bell pitched seven innings of four walks, three strikeouts and two hits to outduel Gage Tiffany and his six complete innings of nine strikeouts, four hits, two walks and one earned run.
