Community R-6 allowed too many free passes on Tuesday at home.
The Trojans allowed 14 walks, eight errors and two hit by pitches for what head coach Joel Krato referred to as 24 free passes in a 17-4 six-inning loss to Hermann (5-9). Community (4-5) allowed 12 runs in the second inning following a four-run first inning and couldn't record the first out until Hermann already had 10 runs. The Bearcats scored 12 unearned runs against three Community pitchers. Kyler Swaim had a two-RBI double and Lane Carter and Mark Zelle each bunted into an RBI in a first inning where the Trojans had three bunts. Krato estimated Community laid down 12 bunts in a 7-2 win the previous night at Monroe City. Nik Crider went 2-for-3 at the plate and struck out four and allowed two earned runs on eight hits and four walks in four innings pitched. Hermann pitcher Cole Traub struck out 10 and allowed four earned runs on five hits and three walks in six innings. Braden Schutt and Nolan Ogroski each had three RBI for the Bearcats.
Community (0-1 CAC) hosts Central Activities Conference foe Sturgeon (5-3, 3-0 CAC) at 5 p.m. Thursday.
