The Community R-6 boys have won a game.

The Trojans held off Silex 43-42 on Monday night at home for their first victory of the season. Chase Vehige hit one but missed the second free throw in the final seconds while KaTavyn Wheeler was 4-for-4 on free throws in the fourth quarter and 5-for-5 in the game. Wheeler finished with a game-high 16 points to go along with eight rebounds and four assists, and Brett Beamer also had a big second half by hitting all three of his 3-pointers in the second half to finish with nine points off the bench. Rett Curtis had 11 points, eight rebounds and two blocks as the Trojans (1-6) went to him repeatedly inside while playing their best defense. The 42 points is the lowest amount allowed by Community this season and the first time under 50 points. Chase Mullen led Silex (1-2) with 12 points, and the Owls were 21-for-28 on free throws.

Community opens its Central Activities Conference schedule at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Madison (0-4).
