Two Mexico residents were arrested Wednesday night in Callaway County after a traffic stop recovered 10 pounds of methamphetamine.
Louetta Dorsey, 43, of Mexico, was charged with two felonies — first-degree drug trafficking over the statutory amount and possession of a controlled substance. Brian Wilson, 41, of Mexico, was charged with felony second-degree drug trafficking over the statutory amount. Both individuals are being held without bond at the Callaway County Jail, according to the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office.
The charges stem from a multi-jurisdictional narcotics investigation led by the MUSTANG Drug Task Force.
According to the probable cause statement, Dorsey and Wilson, who were under investigation for the sale and distribution of significant amounts of methamphetamine throughout Audrain, Boone and Callaway counties, were pulled over on Interstate 70 near Williamsburg by Callaway County deputies at approximately 10:11 p.m.
Earlier that evening, MUSTANG and DEA Task Force officers had followed Dorsey from Mexico to a Walgreens in St. Charles, where investigators observed a large package being placed in her vehicle. Officials said both individuals left in their respective vehicles with Wilson appearing to act as a decoy vehicle for Dorsey.
A search of both vehicles yielded 10 pounds of methamphetamine packaged in separate 1-pound bags and $2,000 in various denominations in Dorsey’s vehicle as well as $3,243 in various denominations in Wilson’s vehicle. In his probable cause statement, Sgt. Jacob Muehring, MUSTANG and DEA Task Force officer, said he also located an oxycodone pill in Dorsey’s wallet during the search.
Sgt. Muehring reported that Dorsey agreed she was acting as a courier for Wilson and stated that he had placed the methamphetamine in her vehicle
Dorsey has an extensive, multi-state criminal history involving drugs that includes a federal indictment for a DEA conspiracy case related to drug distribution in 2017 and a felony conviction for possession of a controlled substance in Hannibal in 2014, according to police.
As a result of the investigation, the MUSTANG Drug Task Force worked with the East Central Drug Task Force, Audrain County Sheriff’s office, and the Boone County Sheriff’s Office to execute additional narcotics-related search warrants that revealed firearms and drug-paraphernalia used for drug trafficking, according to a Facebook statement issued by the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office.
