Candidate filing for Audrain County residents interested in running for available seats in the April 2026 municipal election is now underway.

The next general municipal election in Audrain County will be held April 7, 2026, and there are a number of local seats available. Filing opened Dec. 9 and will close Dec. 30.

Candidates will be listed on the ballot in order of filing.

Mexico School District
The Mexico School District Board of Education has three three-year terms available. Terms for School Board President Jessica Ekern, Treasurer Mathew Pilger and Director Lennette Brown will expire.

Filing may be done at the district’s central office at 2101 Lakeview Rd. during regular business days from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Dec. 30 from 3:30-5 p.m. The central office will be closed Dec. 24-26.

Community R-6 School District
The Community R-6 School District Board of Education has three three-year terms available. Terms for School Board President Jon Robnett, Secretary Stephan Schafer and Greg Fort will expire.

Filing may be done at the district’s central office at 35063 Highway BB in Laddonia. Filing dates are: Dec. 10-12 and Dec. 16-19 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. as well as Dec. 30 from 4-5 p.m.

Van-Far R-1 School District
The Van-Far R-1 School District Board of Education has three three-year terms available. Terms for Justin Hopke, Jessica Reading and Mike Smith will expire.

Filing may be done at the district’s central office at 2200 W. Highway 54 in Vandalia. Filing days and times are: Dec. 9-12 and Dec. 16-19 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Dec. 30 from 3-5 p.m.

Sturgeon R-5 School District
The Sturgeon R-5 School District Board of Education has three three-year terms available.

Filing may be done at the district’s central office at 210 W. Patton St. in Sturgeon. Filing days and times are: Dec. 10 from 9:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m., Dec. 11-12 and Dec. 15-18 from 8:15 a.m. to 4 p.m., Dec. 19 from 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and the final filing date is Dec. 30 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Centralia R-VI School District
The Centralia R-1 School District Board of Education has three three-year terms available. Terms for Vice President Jared Auck, Shannon Dawson and Kelly Hawkins will expire.

Filing may be done at the district’s central office located at 123 N. Rollins in Centralia. Filing days and times are: Dec. 10-11 and Dec.15-18 from 8:15 a.m. to 4 p.m., Dec. 12 from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Dec. 19 from 8:15 a.m. to 1 p.m., Dec. 29 from 8:15 a.m. to noon and Dec. 30 from 4-5 p.m.

Wellsville-Middletown R-1 School District
The Wellsville-Middletown R-1 School District Board of Education has three three-year terms available. Terms for Vice President Stacey Sewell, Paula Adams and Clinetta Weinrich will expire.

Filing may be done at the district’s central office, located at 900 Burlington Rd, from 8 a.m to 4 p.m. when school is in session and on Dec. 30 from 4-5 p.m.

North Callaway R-1 School District
The North Callaway R-1 School District Board of Education has three three-year terms available. Rebecca Wall, Secretary Tim Safranski and Danielle Atterberry all have terms expiring.

Filing may be done at the district’s central office, located at 2690 Thunderbird Drive in Kingdom City, during the district's business hours Tuesday-Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The central office will be closed Dec. 22 until 3 p.m. on Dec. 30. The central office will be open from 3-5 p.m. on Dec. 30.

Middle Grove C-1 School District
The Middle Grove C-1 School District Board of Education has two three-year terms available. Terms for Philip Schopp and Vice President Samantha Kellogg will expire.

Filing may be done at the Monroe County Courthouse during regular business hours Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1-4 p.m. The courthouse will close at noon on Dec. 24 and remain closed for the holidays through Dec. 26.

Mexico City Council
Two three-year terms are available. Terms for City Council Member Larry Webber and Mayor Steve Haag will expire.

Persons interested may file at the City Clerk’s Office, located at 300 N. Coal St., Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The office will be closed Dec. 24-25.

City of Laddonia
Two two-year terms for city alderman are available.

Filing may be done at Laddonia City Hall, located at 301 E. 1st St., during normal business hours Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Village of Vandiver
Two two-year terms for trustees will be available.

Filing may be done at the Village office, located at 2300 E. Liberty St. in Mexico, during normal business hours. Filing closes at 1 p.m. on Dec. 30.

Audrain Ambulance District
Two three-year terms for office director of The Audrain Ambulance District will be available. There is one seat available from Sub District One and one seat from Sub District Four.

Filing may be done at the Audrain county clerk’s office, located at 101 N. Jefferson St. Room 101, during normal business hours from now until 5 p.m. on Dec. 30.

Laddonia Rural Fire Protection District
One six-year seat on the Laddonia Rural Fire Protection District Board will be available.

Candidacy may be declared by contacting Linda Robbins at 608 Elm St. between Dec. 9 and Dec. 26.

Little Dixie Fire Protection District
Two director positions, one for a six-year term and one for a two-year unexpired term will be available.

Middletown Community Fire Protection District
One six-year term for a Middletown Community Fire Protection District board member is available.

Filing may be done at the Middletown Community Fire Protection District’s office, located at 15 S. Cherry St., during regular business hours.

Public Water Supply District No. 2
The Public Water Supply District No. 2 of Monroe County has two three-year terms available: board member for Sub-District Four and board member for Sub-District Five.

Filing may be done at the district office, located at 23504 Hwy 24 in Paris, or at the Monroe County Clerk’s office, located at 300 N. Main St. in Paris, during regular business hours, except holidays.
