Van-Far Alumni and Friends meet

The coordinating committee for the Van-Far Alumni and Friends at the April 24 meeting made further plans for the annual all-school reunion Sept. 28.
A guest speaker, Kevin Langston, retired Director of Tourism for the state of Georgia and 1979 graduate of Van-Far, will be appear. Entertainment for the event is still pending and will be announced soon. The reunion will feature a catered meal, speaker, entertainment, introduction of current scholarship winners and time for guests to visit with former classmates.

In other business, it was announced that 13 scholarships with a combined value of $13,000 will be presented at the awards assembly on May 13. Three scholarships for those completing a year or more of education at a university or trade school will be awarded later this summer. Applications for the latter will be received in May and June.

Gifts for the scholarship fund in memory of Muriel Beshears have been received from the following: Kevin and Beth Motley, Rhea Williams, Barry and Crystal Sparks, Holly Hoover, Ronald and Pamela Rourke, Charles and Janie Hayden, Glen and Carolyn Bailey, Lee Gore Trust, Barbara Schaefer, Kurt and Amy Childs, Round Grove Homemakers, John and Lori Robinson, Garry and Cindy Pirch, Ralls County Electric Cooperative, Deborah Barnes, Loralee Adam, Ruth Ann Hill, Rich and LaVonne Jones, and David and Ellen Taylor. Gifts were also received from Loralee Adam in memory of Alan Adam and from Richard and LaVonne Jones in memory of Donna Hoover.

Those attending the meeting were Jim Deppe, Brian Hummel, Debby Moore and Laura Straube.
