Van-Far softball bombarded early by Louisiana in home-opening loss on Thursday

Van-Far had a tough hill to climb from the beginning on Thursday in its home opener. The Lady Indians allowed eight runs on eight hits in the first inning as they lost 16-1 in four innings to Eastern Missouri Conference foe Louisiana. The game was Van-Far's third in three days as it played at South Callaway and Paris on Tuesday and Wednesday. Carmen Wilburn had a RBI groundout and the Nos. 1-2 hitters Katelyn Sutton and Mylee Keller each had a single that led off the first inning for the Lady Indians. Louisiana finished with 15 hits, including six extra-base hits, as Tyona Campbell had two home runs that were worth five RBI, Reece Wommack was 2-for-4 with two RBI, a triple and a double, Mattie Chandler was 2-for-4 with two RBI, and Jalaya Reis went 3-for-3 with three runs.
