There were some bright spots for Van-Far baseball this season.
The Indians finished 1-16 but had Nikos Connaway be named a first team all-Eastern Missouri Conference outfielder and first team player in Class 2 District 5 and Reece Culwell was named second team all-conference and an all-district honorable mention.
Connaway led the team in various offensive categories including a .489 batting average, .558 on-base percentage, .578 slugging percentage, 22 hits, 12 runs and four doubles while earning the team’s lone win on the mound.
Culwell didn’t finish the year with a pitching win but had a solid year that involved a 3.32 ERA, 60 strikeouts and 24 earned runs allowed in 50⅔ innings. At the plate, he hit .275 with a .431 on-base, eight RBI and a home run.
