Van-Far softball loses 10-0 at Bowling Green for third shutout of season
Van-Far softball had a tough assignment on Thursday night against Megan Graver.
The Lady Indians struck out 10 times and mustered two hits against the Columbia College recruit Graver in a five-inning 10-0 loss at Bowling Green (11-4, 6-0 EMO).
Katelyn Sutton and Trinity Skwirtz each had a single. Reeve Woodall allowed six earned runs on nine hits.
Van-Far (2-10, 0-6 EMO) faces top seed Monroe City (9-3) at 10:30 a.m. on the middle school field at the Bulldog Invitational in Louisiana.
Lady Indians lose 20-2 at home to Montgomery County
The deficit just kept growing for Van-Far on Tuesday at home.
The Indians lost 20-2 to Eastern Missouri Conference foe Montgomery County, allowing half of those runs in the seventh inning. Van-Far committed six errors to give way to 13 unearned runs and allowed 15 hits.
Van-Far (2-9, 0-5 EMO) had a 2-1 lead after the second inning following RBI singles by Trinity Skwirtz and Mylee Keller. Elliott Utterback had the only other Lady Indian hit.
Montgomery (10-3, 4-2 EMO) finished with five extra-base hits, including three doubles hit by Aliviah Fischer, who had two RBI, and a three-RBI home run by Reese Hill, who finished with five RBI.
Van-Far played at conference foe Bowling Green (10-4, 5-0 EMO) on Thursday before starting the Bulldog Invitational today in Louisiana at 10:30 a.m. against No. 1 seed Monroe City (8-3) on the middle school field.
