On Nov. 20, at approximately 8:57 p.m., members of the Audrain County Sheriff’s Office and Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a residential apartment complex in Vandalia, Missouri in response to multiple shots being fired in the area. Upon arrival, responding deputies located expended shell casings on the ground outside the apartment complex.
Witness interviews led deputies to contact Dakota Reed, age 33, who resided at the apartment complex. During this contact, Reed was found to match the description of the suspect who reportedly discharged the firearm. During the investigation, Sheriff’s Deputies obtained and executed a search warrant at Reed's apartment. During the search, Sheriff’s Deputies located a handgun, ammunition, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.
Reed was arrested and transported to the Audrain County Jail where he is being held pending formal charging decisions by the Audrain County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
