Since 2007, VFW post 3772 has been putting up flags around the Missouri Veterans Home in honor of Memorial Day. This year, a total of 175 flags will be raised around the home by the VFW and The Home Depot.
“Home Depot is supposedly going to take this project over from the VFW, and we’re going to pass the torch,” said Gary Songer.
Songer has played a big role in getting the flags up for the last 18 years, back when they had around 200.
While they may have lost some flags over the years, the veterans’ spirit is unwavering and the flags went up effortlessly, thanks to years of experience.
