Walk Back In Time 2023 is growing closer on the horizon. Set for Friday, Sept. 22-Sunday Sept. 24, the history-laden festival is one of the most eagerly anticipated events in Audrain County. And organizers are making an appeal to artists everywhere for 2023 t-shirt designs.
Designs can only be 10 inches wide and 13 inches in height on the front of the shirt; the back is reserved for the Walk Back in Time sponsor. Deadline for entries is May 31.
“Keep in mind the printer typically uses only one or two ink colors,” said Audrain County Historical Society executive director, Lori Pratt. “Sometimes simple can be more effective and identifiable in a design. Think about what Walk Back in Time means to you or iconic images from the event, stories that encapsulate the festival or connect to historical moments.”
The design selected will have the individual's name printed on the shirt, an article will be profiled in the newspaper, and the winning design will be on every shirt sold.
“We hope to get sponsorship for prize money too,” said Pratt “so, start designing and make sure we receive them by May 31, 2023.”
Designs can be sent via email to lpratt@audrain.org; they can also be mailed or dropped off at Audrain Historical Society, 501 S. Muldrow, Mexico MO 65265.
This year’s Walk will feature the Old West, with stagecoaches, conestoga wagons, cowboys, Native Americans and snake oil salesmen, just to name a few attractions. Watch The Mexico Ledger for more details as the event approaches. Updates can also be found online at audrain.org.
