Jyllian Whitworth is no stranger to the tennis court but is also familiar to the pickleball court.
The Mexico senior made her college signing official on Wednesday in the Mexico Sports Complex and will be joining the young Drury University pickleball program. Drury is in its first year as a program, which also marks the first ever season for an official college pickleball program. The Springfield school started the non-NCAA program as the sport grows in popularity across the country, and Whitworth showed her interest when applying to Drury to major in psychology, minor in communication and earn a certificate in wrongful convictions (goal is to become an art therapist). Whitworth has played pickleball during her four-year high school tennis career, which included three all-conference and two all-district awards, and started when she was seven or eight years old.
