A Wisconsin man was arrested March 26 for multiple charges, including possession of a controlled substance, according to a Mexico Public Safety Department news release.
Michael J. Hoeppner, 41, was arrested and taken to MPSD for processing and later transported to the Audrain County Jail for fraudulent attempt to obtain controlled substance, possession of controlled substance and an arrest warrant out of Wisconsin.
On March 7, the Mexico Public Safety Department “became aware of a group of people going to pharmacies in various mid-Missouri cities with fake prescriptions, trying to get drugs illegally,” the release stated. On March 26, just before 2 p.m., an alert employee at a pharmacy in Mexico notified MPSD of someone attempting the same tactic. Officers found Hoeppner nearby, the release stated.
