Annual egg hunt and Easter story returns to St. John's

On Wednesday, April 13, the Easter Extravaganza which includes the Easter egg hunt and Sparkle telling the Easter story will be held on the grounds of St. John’s Lutheran Church at 1000 Dorcas Street in Mexico, beginning at 5 p.m.

“This event has been popular since its launch in 1998,” said Janice Kleinsorge, event spokesperson.

The event is free and open to all children from toddlers through the fifth grade. There are over 2,000 eggs and an area for the egg hunt is set aside for children with disabilities.

Registration begins at 5 and children are welcome to have their pictures taken with therapy dogs Sparkle and Sammy until the skit starts at 5:30. The event will be held rain or shine.

The last six years Janice and Sparkle, with a little help from Sammy, have done a skit which includes many dog tricks explaining the meaning of Easter. All children will also receive a free booklet with the story and pictures of the dogs as they perform throughout the skit.

The skit and egg hunt will be repeated at 6:30 for adults with disabilities. All are invited to attend.

For further information please call the church at 573-581-5655. If there is no answer, leave a number and the call will be returned.
