As the nation gears up to celebrate Independence Day, there is no shortage of local happenings Here are some highlights of what’s going on:

July 4

4th of July - Mexico

The Optimist Club of Mexico will present its annual Fourth of July at the Optimist Park celebration July 4. Highlighting the celebration will be a baby show, Little Mr. and Miss, games for kids, “Things that Go”, an adult coed mushball tournament and more. Concessions will be available. The event will be all day until the fireworks show at dusk, hosted by the Mexico Noon Lions Club.

4th of July Celebrations - Mexico

Tyronn Lue Fourth of July Celebration 

  • Thursday, July 4: 4-11 p.m. Vendors, DJ Annette Driver & Children Entertainment at Tyronn Lue Park; 5-9 p.m. Old School Day Party, 5-9 p.m. at Audrain County 4-H Building (for ages 30 and over).
  • Friday, July 5: 3-11 p.m. STL Bubble Truck, Vendors and Entertainment,, with Fireworks at Dusk at Tyronn Lue Park. 

July 4

4th of July - Laddonia

Laddonia will host its 72nd annual Fourth of July celebration July 4. There will be a cutie contest, slow-pitch softball, horseshoe pitching, washers, cornhole and more. The parade is at 11 a.m. with a magic and balloon show from 12-3 p.m. The celebration will also feature raffles, a bounce house, corn trailer, kids games, vendors, live music from 5-8 p.m. and fireworks. July 5

Bee Gees Gold Concert - Mexico

Bee Gees Gold The Tribute Band will be in Mexico on July 5 at 7 p.m. for a night of unforgettable entertainment as we celebrate the timeless music of the Bee Gees.  Dance and sing along to classic hits like “Stayin’ Alive,” “Night Fever,” and “How Deep Is Your Love” as the Bee Gees Gold pay homage to one of the greatest bands of all time. This outdoor concert will be held at 800 E. Summit St, Mexico, so bring a lawn chair. Beer and food will be for sale. 

July 9

Concert in the Park- Mexico

A music performer, to be announced, will perform at 7 p.m. at the Hardin Park Gazebo as part of Mexico’s 2024 Concerts in the Park series. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs. Rain cancels.
