Audrain County Commission presents gifts to the City of Laddonia

Posted

Audrain County Associate Commissioner Leslie Meyer recently made a visit to Washington D.C. for the National Association of Counties' Legislative Conference.

During the conference Commissioner Meyer took part in various panel discussions and symposiums that covered a wide variety of topics from rural development to agriculture and legislative issues such as the upcoming Farm Bill legislation.

While on the trip, Meyer visited Arlington National Cemetery where she was able to find the gravesite of Admiral Samuel Fuqua and his wife, Edna, in Section 59 of the cemetery.

On Thursday, March 9, at the Laddonia City Council meeting, Commissioner Meyer and Audrain County Emergency Management Director Carl Donaldson, who both served on the Samuel Fuqua Memorial Highway Renaming celebration's planning committee, presented the council with two original prints that Meyer captured of the admiral's gravesite in Arlington. The prints were gifts to the city of Laddonia by the Audrain County Commission.
