The Audrain Humane Society is fortunate to have the support of the community and the Society has been showing its appreciation with Friends of the Audrain Humane Society awards.

Most recently, Daniel and Marrisa Lightsey are the third recipients of the Friends of Audrain Humane Society award. Daniel accepted the award on Monday, May 6. Daniel and Marissa have fostered 15 puppies for the AHS Pet Pals Foster Program in recent months to allow these precious discarded puppies to find their furever homes. According to Daniel and Marissa, the Lightsey household can never have enough puppies.

The Society presented their first Friends of Audrain Humane Society Award in November 2023 to recognize community members who have reached out to help with Audrain Humane Society’s activities and programs.

Darin Knipp (The Car Guy) was the first recipient of Audrain Humane Society’s Friends of Audrain Humane Society Award. Darin received his award in November 2023.

Darin has supported AHS the past two years by printing their colored flyers, fact sheets, Trivia Night printed items, fundraising events flyers and meeting agendas on his commercial printer. This has reduced the wear and tear on board members’ personal printers, alleviated the cost of purchasing ink and paper as well as providing a faster turn-around for items being printed. A lot of trees have gone through his printer.

Bri Dean was the second recipient and was presented the Friends of Audrain Humane Society award on Monday, March 4. Bri has fostered eight dogs for the AHS Pet Pals Foster Program. She has spent countless hours with these dogs socializing them to help them become better foster dogs and more adoptable. She has done numerous fundraising events matching the donors to help pay for medical treatments of several dogs. She is a true dog whisperer and a true friend of Audrain Humane Society.
