Dennis E. Davis, 61, of Auxvasse, died in a one-vehicle accident in the early morning hours on Sunday.
The rollover accident occurred on US Highway 54, just west of County Road 982. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when the westbound 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Davis veered off the left side of the roadway. When the tires left the pavement, Davis fully lost control and the Trailblazer overturned. Both Davis and passenger John R. Meissert, 50, of Auxvasse were ejected from the vehicle.
Davis was pronounced dead at the scene by Callaway County EMS at 3:47 a.m. According to the report, neither man was wearing a seatbelt. Law enforcement officials estimate the accident occurred around 2:30 a.m.
Meissert was transported to University Hospital by ambulance. Davis’s body was transported to the Boone County Medical Examiner’s Office in Columbia.
The vehicle was totaled and was towed from the scene.
