Audrain County Health Department (ACHD) administrator and CEO Craig Brace, FACHE, was recently appointed to the Missouri Association of Local Public Health Agencies (MOALPHA) Executive Board of Directors as the representative for Region F in the state of Missouri. Brace will be replacing Gasconade Health Department administrator Greg Lara, who is retiring. The appointment is immediate.
“I look forward to serving on a state-level to help further the cause of public health,” Brace said. “This is an appointment I don’t take lightly and will work to make sure public health agency voices in Region F are heard consistently on a state level.”
Brace will meet monthly with 16 other members of public health agencies, both rural- and urban-sized, to address issues facing public health on a local, state and national level and will help craft responses to various issues facing public health each day and be a liaison between local public health agencies and the state.
“There are issues that are larger than the local public health agency may be able to handle,” Brace said. “This is where MOALPHA can step up and help those voices to be heard on a regular basis. With Region F being a largely rural region of the state, sometimes those voices get lost at the state level when addressing an issue. I see my job as making sure those voices are heard and their issues receive the proper attention they deserve.”
ACHD Board of Health chair Dr. Kathleen Weaver says she and the board are glad to see Brace stepping up to take on a state role and help agencies the size of ACHD be heard.
“We are very proud to hear about Craig’s appointment to the MOALPHA board,” she said. “Often-times, the smaller health departments are lost amid the shuffle at the state level and we know that Craig will not let that happen, whether it is Audrain or another department in Region F that MOALPHA can assist on.”
