Mexico had a major-league experience on Wednesday as part of its amateur game against Highland (Illinois) at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. Following the Cardinals' 5-2 loss to the Atlanta Braves in the middle of the day, it was the Bulldogs' turn to play on the field used by Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado and rookie Jordan Walker, who hit his first career home run earlier in the day.
Mexico lost the nine-inning game 8-1 to the Highland Bulldogs, who are coming off a 25-10 season, but had hits from Sam Ryan, Andrew Runge, Drew DeMint and Coop Bledsoe and shutout innings thrown by Jaydon Eldridge, Austin Maxwell and Landyn Kleinsorge.
