Central Missouri Honor Flight 69 comes home

Posted

Columbia welcomed home Central Missouri Honor Flight 69, the second of this year. This honor flight is made up of about 95 Vietnam veterans, one was in the Korean War, representing 28 counties.

These veterans spent the day in Washington, DC coming home to the warmest of welcomes from volunteers, friends and family. They were escorted off the bus one by one by a member of the Missouri State Highway Patrol recruitment class, their name and branch announced.

“Honor flight is more than travel. It’s more than a journey. It’s closure; it’s healing. It is about revisiting their service years ago, bonding, comradery. It’s all about experiences and also remembering at every step of the way, they are honored as a veteran.” says volunteer Shelley Becker.
